Our Church School Distinctiveness
What makes our school distinctive?
At St Dominic, we have Christian beliefs and values at heart. This means that every child and adult within our school is not just important because they are members of the school but because they are seen as unique individuals within God's creation. As a Church of England school, we recognise that as well as academic and emotional intelligence, human beings also have spiritual intelligence. The spiritual aspects of life are recognised, and nurtured alongside the academic and emotional needs of all. St Dominic is a school where challenge through questioning is encouraged, as through this we can make sense of the world, the gift of life and the purpose of our own personal lives.
As part of St Barnabas Multi-Academy Trust, we encourage our children to 'Bring It!'. When we discuss Bringing It within school we talk about what we can learn from The Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14–30) and how we can bring our talents to school so that we can be the best versions of ourselves to enable us to flourish. This is supported by the Church of England's vision for education to live 'life in all its fullness' (John 10:10). Additionally, we have three core Christian values that are threaded through daily school life and help to remind us God loves us all. Our Christian values of courage, creativity and friendship help all of us (children and adults) to live out our vision through learning and relationships in school.
