St Dominic High Dartmoor Expedition
Eleven of our Yr5 and 6 pupils ventured onto Dartmoor, under the supervision of Spirit of Adventure & with support from Mr Walker (Governor) and Mrs Small, in what could only be described as extremely wet conditions!
After dropping off their overnight kit at the Spirit of Adventure bunkhouse the team struck out for their first day of walking from the bottom of Bellever Forrest, across the moor, taking in Bellever Tor, Laughter Tor and Arch Tor. They covered a distance of over 7 miles before arriving back at the bunkhouse to make camp for the night.
The team awoke from a night under canvas, to much improved weather and after breakfast broke camp with the aim of conquering another seven Tors. With Littaford, Longaford and Higher White Tors under their belts, the day was going so well that the team pushed on and visited another 5 tors finishing with Beardown Tors!
An amazing total distance of over 15 miles and 11 Tors in two days! Well Done children! They all received their Tor Badges & Certificates awarded by Mrs Moore.
